Project Overview

This case study showcases a custom feature wall signage installation for a contemporary coffee shop. The project demonstrates how interior and storefront signage can work together to create a cohesive brand experience. The feature wall serves as both an Instagram-worthy backdrop and a functional wayfinding element, reinforcing the coffee shop’s artisanal identity.

Design Concept

The design concept centers on the coffee shop’s brand narrative, translating its artisanal coffee philosophy into visual form. The primary feature wall sign uses oversized dimensional lettering that becomes the focal point of the interior space, visible immediately upon entry and readable in photographs and social media content. The typography selection pairs a classic serif wordmark with modern sans-serif supporting text, bridging traditional coffee craftsmanship with contemporary cafe culture.

The layout considers sightlines from the ordering counter, seating areas, and entrance, ensuring the signage reads effectively from all key customer touchpoints. The scale is deliberately oversized to create visual drama while maintaining legibility.

Material & Fabrication

The feature wall letters are fabricated from CNC-routed high-density urethane (HDU) with a durable painted finish in the brand’s signature colors. The dimensional letters project from the wall surface, casting natural shadows that add depth and visual interest throughout the day. The wall backing receives a complementary textured paint treatment, creating a subtle backdrop that allows the lettering to pop without competition.

Interior signage elements use matching materials and finishes for consistency, including directional signs for restrooms and ordering stations. All interior signage is rated for commercial occupancy with appropriate fire-retardant materials where required.

Installation Results

The feature wall signage has become the defining visual element of the coffee shop interior.
