Nest & Hue Interiors in Portland, OR needed a storefront that reflected their design-forward approach to home decor. Located in the Alberta Arts District, the studio attracts clients who appreciate thoughtful aesthetics, so the signage had to feel curated rather than commercial.
Project Background
The storefront on Alberta Street is a classic white brick building typical of Portland’s creative neighborhoods. Nest & Hue had outgrown their original hand-painted sign and wanted something more permanent and polished. The challenge was creating signage that felt sophisticated but not cold — approachable but not generic.
Design Concept & Branding
We chose sage green acrylic dimensional letters for their soft, natural presence against the white brick facade. The color was custom-matched to the brand palette — a muted green that evokes indoor plants, neutral textiles, and organic materials. The frosted window film uses a subtle botanical pattern that creates privacy while allowing diffused light into the showroom.
The 36-inch letters have a matte finish that avoids glare in Portland’s frequently overcast light, maintaining consistent visibility throughout the day. Brushed aluminum standoffs provide a clean, contemporary mounting solution.
Material Selection & Fabrication
The acrylic was laser-cut and edge-polished for a flawless finish. The frosted vinyl window film was custom-printed with the brand’s leaf motif, applied to the lower section of the retail windows. This provides passersby with a glimpse of the interior while screening direct sightlines into the work areas. Brushed aluminum backplates reinforce the letters and provide a clean attachment point.
Installation Process
The installation was completed in a single day. The window film was applied by our specialist team to ensure bubble-free adhesion, while the dimensional letters were mounted using a precision template system. The facade required minimal prep work thanks to the well-maintained brick surface.
Results & Impact
Nest & Hue reported that the new signage has become a talking point with clients arriving for design consultations. The combination of dimensional lettering and frosted window film gives the storefront a boutique feel that aligns with their premium service model. Several neighboring businesses have asked for referrals since the installation.
