Pulse Electronics in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood is a tech accessory and mobile device store that needed signage matching the energy of its products. The store sits between a coffee shop and a music venue, competing for attention in one of Seattle’s busiest pedestrian corridors.
Project Background
The existing signage was a faded vinyl banner that did nothing to convey the cutting-edge electronics sold inside. Capitol Hill’s foot traffic is young, tech-savvy, and design-conscious — they expect visual polish from the businesses they patronize. The owners wanted a sign that felt as modern as the gadgets on their shelves.
Design Concept & Branding
We designed bright white LED channel letters with cool-blue accent lighting, creating a high-tech look that stands out day and night. The clean sans-serif typeface communicates modern simplicity, while the integrated digital window display adds a dynamic element that traditional signage can’t match. The 36-inch letters are mounted on a dark gray facade, creating a crisp contrast.
The digital window display runs promotional content, product launches, and store hours — giving the storefront a constantly refreshed appearance that encourages repeat looks from passing pedestrians.
Material Selection & Fabrication
The letters are fabricated from white acrylic faces with aluminum returns, backlit with cool-white LEDs for maximum brightness. The digital display is a high-brightness commercial-grade LED screen with anti-glare coating, readable even in direct sunlight. Seattle’s rainy climate required IP65-rated weatherproofing for all electrical components.
Installation Process
The digital display required structural reinforcement of the window frame to support its weight. Electrical work was completed by a licensed commercial electrician to meet Seattle’s stringent commercial codes. The full installation, including facade prep, was completed in three days.
Results & Impact
The combination of illuminated letters and digital display has made Pulse Electronics one of the most visible storefronts on the block. The owner reported that foot traffic increased noticeably after installation, with several customers mentioning the digital display caught their attention. The constantly rotating content keeps the facade feeling fresh without requiring physical changes.
