Titan Fitness needed a sign that communicated intensity, community, and results before a potential member walked through the door. Dimensional red acrylic letters with white trim, backlit on a charcoal facade. Bold, unapologetic, and impossible to ignore.
Project Background
Titan Fitness is a high-intensity training studio in Chicago West Loop neighborhood packed with competing boutique fitness concepts. The founders, two former D1 athletes turned trainers, wanted their sign to stand out in a sea of minimalist wellness branding.
Design Concept and Branding
Dimensional acrylic letters in bold slab-serif typography — “TITAN FITNESS” in red with white beveled trim on a charcoal aluminum composite panel. White LED backlighting creates a crisp halo. A small glass neon accent in the window reads “TRAIN HARD” in warm white, visible 24/7.
Material Selection and Fabrication
The letters are acrylic with beveled white face layer, UV-stabilized. Backing panel is aluminum composite painted automotive-grade charcoal. LED system uses waterproof modules with dimmable driver. Glass neon fabricated by a certified neon bender.
Installation Process
A spider lift was required — the storefront is 18 feet above sidewalk level. The panel was mounted with structural adhesive and mechanical fasteners. Each letter attached via pre-drilled templates.
Results and Impact
Fifty percent increase in walk-in inquiries. People saw the red sign from the expressway exit and decided to check the studio out. First-quarter membership sales exceeded projections by 35 percent.
