Savannah’s Historic District attracts millions of tourists annually, many seeking unique souvenirs and locally made gifts. Curio Keepsake differentiated itself from generic gift shops through a carefully curated selection of artisan-made items. The signage needed to communicate this distinction—something that felt antique yet fresh, decorative but not overwhelming.
Design Concept & Branding
The design recalls early 20th-century American general store signage: curved edges, elaborate flourishes, and decorative borders framing the text. Small illustrated elements—a treasure chest, gift boxes, musical notes—scatter around the lettering to suggest the variety of products inside. The color palette combines muted reds, blues, and creams reminiscent of aged paper preserved through restoration work.
The slightly irregular alignment of text and illustrations adds to the handcrafted charm, avoiding the sterile perfection of modern mass-produced signs.
