Chainlink Cycles serves Denver’s active cycling community from a corner location on Broadway. The shop sells bikes, gear, and repair services to everyone from daily commuters to weekend mountain bikers. The signage needed to be visible from both directions on Broadway while capturing the energetic spirit of the sport.
Project Background
Located in Denver’s Golden Triangle neighborhood, Chainlink Cycles had outgrown its original location and moved to a larger storefront on Broadway. The move was an opportunity to create a proper branded facade. The owners wanted something that felt as durable as their bikes but with the clean aesthetics of a premium cycling brand.
Design Concept & Branding
Brushed stainless steel channel letters were the obvious choice for a cycling shop — a material that echoes bike frames and components. The silver finish against the shop’s dark green facade creates a clean, professional look. The striped awning in green and cream extends the brand colors and provides shade for the bike repair area visible through the window.
The lettering uses a condensed sans-serif typeface that reads clearly from a distance, important for a corner location where drivers have limited time to spot the business.
Material Selection & Fabrication
The stainless steel letters are fabricated from 16-gauge material with a brushed finish that hides fingerprints and smudges — practical for a storefront that sees high pedestrian traffic. The awning is solution-dyed acrylic fabric with a 10-year colorfast warranty, selected for Denver’s intense sun exposure at altitude. LED strip lighting under the awning provides ambient illumination during evening hours.
Installation Process
The corner location required extra attention to sight lines from both approaching directions. We adjusted the letter positioning during installation based on on-site visibility testing from multiple approach angles. The awning framework was custom-fitted to the storefront’s existing structure to avoid drilling new supports.
Results & Impact
Since installation, Chainlink Cycles has become a landmark on the Broadway cycling corridor. The owner reported that the professional storefront has elevated their brand perception — customers perceive the shop as more established and trustworthy. Several group rides now use the sign as their meeting point, proving its landmark value.
